Concession Duty - Donations and Parent Obligations

Categories: Concession

Due to the high costs of operating a Youth Sports League (with both Football and Cheer programs) in which the registration costs are significantly offset by fundraising and volunteer efforts, NBYFL has established certain policies pertaining the operations of our Concession Stand which must be adhered to by our member families (both football and cheer).

Other sports leagues and clubs in our surrounding area charge upwards of $300 and $400 for registration fees and still require similar if not more participation in fundraising efforts. NBYFL's registration fees and fundraising requests are certainly modest by comparison.

The Concession Stand, each season, is NBYFL's biggest fund-raiser, followed by our Beefsteak Benefit Dinner and our Annual Golf Outing. While participation and attendance is optional at our Beefsteak and Golf Outing fundraisers, Concession Stand help is not.

Concession Duty and Donations are necessary obligations which we ask our families to take seriously and responsibly.

Because our member families are so awesome and terrific, we do not impose some of the means other league's use to insure adherence (i.e. mandatory deposits returned at end of season after duties have been fulfilled).

Of course, however, we have had situations in the past where some member families fail to or are unable to step-up. In these instances, going forward, we ask that you please let us know if you are unable or unwilling to manage your member obligations. This way we can work to help you find other means to share in the burdens of obligation so that you do not unfairly put-upon any of your fellow member families who have fulfilled their obligations from which we all (you also) benefit.

NBYFL Concession Stand Duty Policies:

Donations - each participant's family will be responsible for making donation(s) to the Concession Stand at the beginning of the season prior to our first home game. Donation lists/requests and instructions will be circulated and viewable online via a SignUps Form in August. Buy out, or cash in lieu of donations, is an available option on the SignUps Form. Requested items range in price, but are usually between $10 to $20 (give or take a bit).  Buy out options begin at $20. Some families choose to donate multiple items (thank you for your generosity!).  Some families have multiple players in our programs and therefore sign-up for items multiple per participant (thank you!). Every member family should/needs to donate something, at least one item or a buy out. As the seasons progress (depending on concession stand sales), second round requests for donations are circulated. However, second round requests for donations are not mandatory (though very mush appreciated).

Home Games -  each participant will have a representative (parent, grandparent, family member, etc) work in our Concession Stand. Each participant is responsible to have representative(s) cover at least 3 to 4 half-time shifts at a minimum as needed per season. Representative shifts can be worked during a participant's respective level's game time or other game times. SignUp Forms for Shifts will be circulated and viewable online. When signing up for a shift, be sure to make note in the SignUps Form which participant you are representing.

If you have any questions regarding Concession Stand Duty or Donations, please contact NBYFl's Concession Director, Colleen McLean at concession@nbyfl.com or at 973.852.5052 x702.

Note: Shift trading is okay. Once a shift is Signed-Up for, representatives are responsible for making sure their shift is covered by them or another responsible adult.  Siblings who are in high school or older may represent a participant, but only if there are other adult representatives working along side them in the same shift. Thank you!

Go Braves!
