While injuries during any activity or sport can occur, Football and cheer are highly physical activities which have a reputation of high injury. This is not necessarily the case at the youth levels where emphasis is put on teaching and training youth the correct methods and skills to make the sport safer for themselves, teammates and opponents as they move on to higher and more competitive levels.

Injuries in these two sports do happen, but more often at the high school and college levels than at the youth levels.  And, these days, less so at the higher levels with so many new skills and techniques being learned at the youth levels.  Youth level participants are developing solid fundamentals, new and proper techniques and building better and stronger foundations thanks to USA Football and the NFL's research and efforts to make a safer and better game at all levels.

That said,... we should alway be prepared for incident. Minor injuries such as bruises and scrapes will be dealt with on-site with the coaching staff and designated first aid attendant. In the event of a more serious injury, which can happen, parent(s)/guardian(s) will be contacted so that treatment action can be determined and executed accordingly. With any extreme injury, 911 for emergency assistance and medics will be phoned first and right away, parents will then be contacted, coaching staff (trained in CPR/AED and RUTGERS Safety Certification program) and on-site First-Aid Responders will assist in care until which time EMTs or professional emergency care givers arrive and take-over.
