Football practices begin on August 1 (per MCYFL regulations there are no football practices allowed during July). Cheer begins practice in late-July.  For both football and cheer, Head Coaches determine the exact start date for their respective program level, beginning on, just after or as close to August 1 as possible for football and late-July for cheer.

We encourage all players and cheer participants to be present when his/her program begins, as there are key elements and important steps during the beginning weeks which must be met for actual game play and cheer eligibility.

The regular game season begins in September with approximately 9 to 11 games (depending on scrimmages, make-up games, playoffs, etc.). The regular season is usually over by first week in November, not including any playoff games which happen post regular season. Team end of season parties usually occur in November, as does League group outing/trip to see a college game.

Football and Cheer practices for all levels are held mostly/mainly at Memory Park Field in Newton. Football Practices are usually 5 nights per week in August and 3-4 nights per week once game season begins in September (depending on level). Cheer practices begin intensely in August and then drops to once or twice per week during Game Season (usually on game day prior to start of game).

Home games for lower levels are usually played on Memory Park Field in Newton. Home games for Upper levels are played on Turf Field at Newton High School. Lower level games are played Friday nights and Saturdays. Upper Level games are usually on Sundays (with some exceptions for Saturday and Friday evening possible).

Keeping with a long standing tradition, each Saturday of Labor Day weekend every year, Newton Braves Youth Football versus Mount Olive Youth Football (all tackle levels compete) in what has been dubbed the "Trophy Game".  This is a tournament type day where the winning League of the day takes home a much coveted trophy.  Newton and Mt. Olive to do not currently meet in Regular Season play, only on Trophy Game day.

Go Braves!
