What is a JammText event?

A JammText event is a period of time when JammText is actively searching for text messages, emails and hashtags from the Internet and showing them in the display. When you first launch JammText, there is no event in progress. When you arrive at your venue, select a montage and then click PLAY to start your event. Pressing play does a few things.

• Event information is shown at the top of the JammText app, including the name of the event, text number, social media tag, email, and how long the event has been running. The name of the event will be the name of the montage you selected before pressing play.
• The JammText display app will launch. As long as you have a working Internet connection, JammText will give the audience instructions to text your number or hashtag on social media. JammText will also show approved messages and pictures.
• JammText will start searching for new social media posts along with text messages and emails.
• The message feed and control window will begin to show pending messages. As messages come in, they will appear in both locations.
• Montage selection will be disabled. You cannot select a different montage while an event is in progress. You cannot alter social media tags or enable/disable text, email and social media. You can, however, add or remove media items in your selected montage.

When your event is over, click STOP to end the event. JammText automatically lists every event with the date and start time on your contacts page. You can then go back and see who contacted you and sort your contacts to make it easy to reach out to them in the future (see Contacts section). You can also go back to your event and export all the pictures that you received during that event and save them to a folder (see Exporting event pictures ).

Once JammText is not in an event, the following apply.

• JammText will not search for new social media posts. This is intended to reduce your social media usage so that you don't cross your account limit while you are not actually running JammText.
• JammText will still receive text messages if someone texts your number, and email messages if someone emails your dedicated JammText email. These messages will be shown in the message feed, but they are not pending. You cannot approve or reject them. They will not be shown in the display. However, you can reply back to them using your contacts page (see the Contacts section for more information on how to reply).
• You can set up and fully customize your montage. You can select hashtags and enable/disable texting and social media as outlined in the Montages section.
• The display will not show pictures and messages. If the JammText display app is open, it will only show a rotation of the media items of the selected montage. See the Display section for more information on how JammText displays messages.
