Avoid striking on the sharp cutting edges of endmills or inserts. Hit just behind the edges as shown below (refer to Lesson 16).
Tapping on smaller diameter multiple flute endmills, you can't help but strike the sharp teeth edges, but you don't have to strike that hard on these as well. Tap lighter in practice.
The tips are replaceable and are stocked at MSC.
