Really Poor Coherence

Coherence that looks like this is caused by a loose accelerometer. First thing to check is that the cable is tightly threaded to the accelerometer. It is only a 3-56 thread and can come loose. DO NOT use any kind of threadlocker. Just check by hand often.

Some new coatings are so slippery that the wax does not adhere properly. The accelerometer moves with each hammer impact resulting in poor coherence as shown above. Use of a degreaser and making sure the tool is completely dry may help. It is possible to use an adhesive (Loctite 454 is recommended), but not very practical. You have to break the accel loose with a special wrench (included in your kit) and that can lead to other issues. Another solution is to apply a lot of wax and push the accelerometer against the surface of the endmill until it makes contact. Use your fingers to press in the excess wax to mold it around contact area creating a strong hold.

Here was the result from the above tool after applying more wax.
